The most controversial debate right now at Arsenal FC is whether Arsene Wenger should go or stay. Before discussing that let’s look at his history and stats just to put everything into context.
Arsene Wenger’s very brief History:
Arsene Wenger was born in 22/10/1949 in Strasbourg, France. Football was introduced to him by his father at the age of six. He played for FC Duttlenheim starting from the age of 12 and broke into their first team at the age of 16. FC Duttlenheim didn’t really have a coach at the time to prepare them for games, this is when Wenger decided to take it upon himself to manage the team launching his coaching career. Before taking on Coaching full time he went on to play for Mutzig, Mulhouse, ASPV Strasbourg and finally Strasbourg.
The first team he managed was AS Nancy, moving on to AS Monaco, Nagoya Grampus Eight and finally Arsenal FC where he enjoyed the most success.
His Time at Arsenal FC in numbers:
Manager of The Season:
|Manager of the Month||15|
When looking at the stats above, there is no doubt that Arsene Wenger has had major success with Arsenal, his credibility and legend status is unquestionable. However, I believe his time is up because of the disappointment in the Champions League and Premier League over the past
few years over (more than 10 years). Having said that, I believe the problem at Arsenal is much bigger than Arsene Wenger, there are obvious problems with the board as well as the lack of quality players. Therefore, Wenger leaving does not necessarily mean Arsenal will find themselves again but it will mean a fresh start and a chance to start new with a trophy hungry manager.
Legend’s thoughts on Wenger:
Thierry Henry: Stay.
Alan Smith: Go.
Ian Wright: Go.
Charlie Nicholas: Stay.
What do you guys think? Stay or Go?
